6 Unique Team-Building Activities in Orlando

By Kate Cohen

Five people sitting at a desk covered in computers, paper, phones, and other office supplies join hands as a team.

Orlando has a reputation for being one of the best places in the world to play.

It’s also a fantastic place for work.

Whether your company is based in Central Florida or you’re visiting with your employees and peers from out of town, Orlando is the perfect place for team building that is memorable, effective, and fun.

Here are several team-building activities in Orlando to consider for your next corporate outing.

6 Unique Team-Building Activities in Orlando

Challenge Yourself at Gatorland and the Scream’ Gator Zip Line

A woman in a harness slides over the treetops with a pond full of alligators below. Gatorland's Screamin' Gator Zip Line is a unique team-building experience in Orlando.

Nothing says Florida quite like gators, and nothing says gators quite like Gatorland.

Affectionately known as “The Alligator Capital of the World”, over 2,000 American alligators call Gatorland home.

While a trip to Gatorland is a great way to entertain and treat your team, the park also offers corporate team building with their Screamin’ Gator Zip Line. Their multi-level zipline course stands nearly seven stories high and offers breathtaking views over the treetops.

Glide on lines ranging in length from 230 feet to 500 feet, soaring over the Alligator Breeding Marsh for an extra thrill.

Your employees will have the opportunity to challenge themselves and cheer on peers while building professional relationships and having fun.

Soar High at iFLY Orlando

A woman in a blue jumpsuit and a man in a red jump suit smile while holding red helmets. Behind them, three people in helmets and red jumpsuits levitate while doing indoor skydiving at iFLY, a great experience for team-building in Orlando.

iFLY is Orlando’s premier indoor skydiving facility.

Their state-of-the-art wind tunnels simulate the feeling of flying without the stomach-churning sensation of falling.

This experience will allow your team members to step outside of their comfort zones. Indoor skydiving is an inclusive activity open to individuals of all ages, genders, and abilities, and is a great way to offer everyone the opportunity to soar.

iFLY provides all the gear, training, and coaching you need for a successful indoor skydiving event. Food, beverage, and hospitality packages can also be arranged to take your team building to the next level.

Kayak One of Florida’s Beautiful Rivers

A dock with adirondak chairs overlooking a river, surrounded by beautiful trees and strings of lights. Kayaking and lounging at Wekiva Island is a great team-building activity in Orlando.

Exploring Florida’s lush ecosystems and wildlife is a great way to encourage team building and collaboration.

Wekiva Island is an indoor/outdoor recreation complex that has everything you need for an exceptional day of collaboration, bonding, and teamwork.

Rent kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards to take out onto the Wekiva River and experience Florida’s natural wilderness.

When you’re done adventuring, return to Wekiva Island to soak up the sun on their beautiful boardwalk overlooking the river and play games like cornhole and volleyball.

Treat your team to refreshing beverages from the bar, The Tootin’ Otter, and delicious food from the onsite food truck, Without a Paddle Cafe.

If you have business to attend to, Wekiva Island also has conference rooms and event spaces available to rent.

SAK Comedy Lab

Five adults stand on a stage while an instructor coaches them in front of an audience.

SAK Comedy Lab is the city’s hottest improv club, located in the heart of downtown Orlando.

Their shows are fabulously entertaining and a great way to treat employees to an evening of side-splitting laughter.

You can also hire SAK Comedy Lab to conduct team building events with your group.

At its core, improv is about teamwork. In improv, the age-old principle of “Yes, and…” is the notion that the most creative and successful collaborations come from accepting one another’s ideas and adding onto them.

SAK Comedy Lab’s team building and training demonstrates how enhancing communication and tossing away your inhibitions can benefit individuals, teams, and ultimately, the businesses they support.

Embrace your Inner Kid at Fun Spot America

Orlando is known for its incredible theme parks, and there’s no better way to show your employees you appreciate them than by treating them to a day in the parks.

Its family-friendly vibes make it a great place for a team activity if you have employees traveling to Orlando with family.

The events team at Fun Spot America will work with you to curate an event that will delight all of your guests. Whether it’s a small group outing or you’re renting out the entire theme park, Fun Spot America is happy to help you treat your team to a day of unlimited fun.

The Escape Game

A man and a woman stand in front of an ornately decorated door with animal heads, attempting to open it.

Nothing promotes problem solving and communication skills in a team than a common mission.

Combining immersive environments with exciting storytelling, escape rooms require collaboration, creative problem solving, and teamwork.

In Orlando, The Escape Game is a remarkable attraction with seven unique escape rooms to challenge participants. Teams have to work together to take on creative challenges like underwater laboratory explorations, intense prison breaks, and recovering priceless artwork from a museum.

Each escape room serves up to 8 people at a time and multiple rooms can be reserved simultaneously for groups of up to 89 players.

The Escape Game is located on International Drive, so its location is ideal for groups in town for events at the Orange County Convention Center or staying nearby at Rosen Plaza.

By Kate Cohen

A couple takes a selfie in front of a Christmas tree at night as snow flurries around them.

Orlando’s theme parks deliver immersive, magical experiences year-round.

When the holidays arrive, Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando take the magic to the next level.

There are spectacle-filled shows, dazzling fireworks, epic parades, and satisfying seasonal sweets perfect for celebrating with family and loved ones.

With so many festivities to enjoy, you may be wondering, “Which theme park does Christmas best?”

First, let’s take a look at the magic you’ll find waiting for you at each of the Orlando theme parks.

Walt Disney World Resort

Daisy Duck waves at girls in Minnie ears as part of a nighttime Christmas theme park parade heading down Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World Resort is made up of four fantastic theme parks, all of which celebrate the holidays in unique ways.

Here is a brief look at what you’ll find at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom this holiday season.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom goes all-out when it comes to holiday decorations. Main Street U.S.A. is decked out with garland, twinkle lights, and ornaments. On one side of the street is a massive Christmas tree and larger-than-life presents, and on the other end is the famous Cinderella Castle.

Catch a performance of “Frozen Holiday Surprise” on the Cinderella Castle stage for a dazzling holiday experience featuring Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf. Then, take a ride on the Jungle Cruise, which has a festive holiday overlay and a seasonal rebrand to the “Jingle Cruise.”.

Magic Kingdom also hosts Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select nights throughout the holiday season. This separately ticketed event includes an elaborate parade, a special fireworks show, characters in their finest holiday attire, and special seasonal food and beverages to enjoy.

While Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party is a wonderful way to celebrate the spirit of the season, tickets run between $169 and $219, making this event a seasonal splurge.

EPCOT

EPCOT's Spaceship Earth ball and a Christmas tree illuminated at night from across a lake, part of EPCOT's Christmas theme park décor.

EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays is a celebration of the world’s holiday traditions.

As you wander through the World Showcase, you’ll learn about holiday legend and lore from charismatic storytellers.

Enjoy EPCOT’s annual Candlelight Processional, a moving performance of the story of Christmas as told by a celebrity narrator accompanied by a massed choir and a 50-seat orchestra.

Treat yourself to holiday food and beverages that reflect a variety of cultural traditions and experience the classic ride, Living with the Land, with beautiful holiday overlays.

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios gets a festive holiday makeover for the months of November and December.

The usually spooky Hollywood Tower Hotel transforms into the Hollywood Toy Hotel every night with a beautiful projection show to celebrate the season. Other attractions, including For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, have a playful holiday twist.

Visit your favorite Toy Story characters in Toy Story Land and explore larger-than-life seasonal decorations that will make you feel toy sized.

Animal Kingdom

During the holidays, you can interact with the Merry Menagerie, a collection of life-sized artic animal puppets like penguins, reindeer, and polar bears.

At night, the Tree of Life glistens with a magnificent show of lights and projections specially themed for the holidays.

Say hi to Mickey and Minnie at Adventurers Outpost; they’ll be dressed in their holiday best and ready for pictures.

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando Resort’s holiday festivities are whimsical and playful, centering around beloved Christmas stories.

Let’s explore the holiday magic you’ll find in each of Universal Orlando Resort’s theme parks this year.

Islands of Adventure

The Grinch stands in his Santa Suit in front of a purple whimsical mirror and his dog, Max, in a cave onstage.

Islands of Adventure is home to Seuss Landing, which during the holidays transforms into Who-ville.

Meet the Grinch for a dose of sassy holiday spirit and catch him and a cast of resident Whos in a performance of The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, an epic retelling of the classic The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

Enjoy meandering through Hogsmeade, which is decked out in twinkling lights and other holiday decor for the season. At night, Hogwarts Castle lights up with a beautiful holiday projection show, The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle.

Universal Studios Florida

A shot from below of a dragon on top of Gringotts Bank in Universal Studios' Diagon Alley. The bank is lined in green garland for Christmas.

Next door to Islands of Adventure in Universal Studios Florida, you can “ooh” and “aah” over an incredible holiday parade. Universal’s Holiday Parade features your favorite DreamWorks Animations characters from movies like “Shrek” and “Madagascar.”

The parade also features a selection of retired Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons that soar overhead through the streets of Universal Studios Florida.

Diagon Alley is decked out for the holidays, adorned in colorful garlands, baubles, and lights. The famous songstress Celestina Warbeck and her backup Banshees will be performing wizarding holiday favorites for a festive musical celebration.

In both Universal Orlando parks, you’ll find exclusive holiday merch, seasonal treats, and plenty of unique photo-ops ideal for capturing new holiday memories.

SeaWorld Orlando

Red and white lit Christmas trees reflect on a body of water.

SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration is a park-wide, family-friendly holiday extravaganza.

Held on select days throughout the holiday season, Christmas Celebration features a variety of live entertainment, character meet-and-greets, and delicious specialty food and beverages.

Enjoy shows like O Wondrous Night, a telling of the story of Christmas with over 30 beloved carols, live animals, and life-size puppets. Mrs. Claus’ Magic Kitchen is a hilarious holiday cooking show following Mrs. Claus as she attempts to share her favorite Christmas cookie recipes on social media.

“Winter Wonderland on Ice” is a show-stopping extravaganza with a backdrop of twinkling trees and festive fountains. The Holiday Reflections: Firework Finale is the perfect way to end a day of celebration with dazzling fireworks set to your favorite holiday songs.

In Sesame Street Land, you’ll find all of your favorite furry and feathered friends celebrating the holidays. The Sesame Street Christmas Parade features festively decorated floats and exciting performances with characters like Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and more.

Santa Claus will be visiting SeaWorld Orlando for photos and meet-and-greets, as well as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Bumble the Abominable Snowman.

Which Theme Park Does Christmas Best?

A family looks up at the sky in Universal Studios at night, surrounded by lit Christmas decorations.

Each Orlando theme park observes and celebrates the holidays in their own unique way.

Determining which does Christmas “best” depends on what it is you’re looking to get out of your holiday theme park experience.

Here are our thoughts on choosing the right theme park for your holiday celebrations this year.

For Families with Young Children

Families with smaller children may find SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration ideal with beloved Sesame Street characters, Santa meet-and-greet opportunities, and a variety of live shows from which to choose.

The Disney theme park holiday celebrations are also great for younger children. Frozen-inspired attractions are always popular, and the holiday decorations in Magic Kingdom create a festive winter wonderland that brings imagination to life.

For Adults

You don’t have to be a kid to be swept up in the magic of the holidays.

Universal Orlando’s holiday celebrations are great for kids and grown-ups alike.

Take the opportunity to experience a viral meet-and-greet with the Grinch for a holiday interaction dripping with sarcasm and sneers. Then, treat yourself to a hot butterbeer spiked with firewhisky for a treat that will warm you from the inside out.

Universal’s Parks are also home to some of the best thrill rides in Orlando, perfect for adrenaline junkies and coaster enthusiasts.

EPCOT’s holiday celebrations are also ideal for adults. Experience a variety of unique global flavors throughout the International Festival of the Holidays paired with refreshing beverages for guests 21+.

For Foodies

A hand holds a Mickey Mouse gingerbread cookie in front of a Christmas tree.

Every Orlando theme park offers an array of tasty holiday treats that feature seasonal spices and flavors.

EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays features holiday foods from around the world, making it a unique and tasty choice for your celebrations.

SeaWorld Orlando’s menu lineup is packed full of festive flavors and seasonal seasonings. You can enjoy everything from Santa’s Cronut Chicken Sandwich to a fried turkey feast. Make any holiday drink a little jollier with a splash of your favorite spirit.

If you’re headed to SeaWorld Orlando for their holiday menus, keep in mind their Christmas Kitchens don’t open until 4 p.m.

For the Ultimate Holiday Celebration

If you’re looking for an all-out Christmas extravaganza, there’s nothing quite as magical as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.

The after-hours event is worth every penny if you’re looking to experience holiday magic in a way only Walt Disney World can deliver.

Your entire evening will be full of Christmas wonder with rides, shows, parades, and meet-and-greets that exude holiday cheer.

Here in Orlando, we have a lot to cheer for, especially when it comes to watching sports.

Not only are we home to top-tier sports teams like the NBA’s Orlando Magic and professional soccer teams like Orlando City Soccer Club and Orlando Pride, but we’ve also hosted our fair share of NFL ProBowls and other major sporting events.

As a destination for visitors from around the world, we know how important it is to make sure you’re not missing your own teams’ games. Luckily, there are plenty of spots nearby that are perfect for catching the games you don’t want to miss.

Here are a few of the best spots for watching Sports near I-Drive.

NBC Sports Grill & Brew

The 5 Best Dinner Shows in Orlando

By Kate Cohen

It’s no secret that Orlando is one of the largest dining and entertainment hubs in the U.S. What you may not realize is how much we have to offer outside of our world-famous theme parks.

Looking for a break from the usual Orlando attractions? Try a night of dinner theatre! Grab a table at one of these five fantastic dinner shows in Orlando. Each delivers a unique — and tasty — experience that will satisfy your appetite and keep you wildly entertained.

Pirates Dinner Adventure

Pirates Dinner Adventure is the perfect dinner show for swashbucklers of all ages.

This entertaining production thrusts you into the life of a pirate, complete with daring sword fighting, stunts, acrobatics, and yes, even mermaids!. Set sail aboard an 18th-century Spanish galleon ship with 40-foot masts alongside the evil pirate Captain Sebastian the Black and heroes Benjamin Blue and Princess Anita.

And, yes, the audience gets to play a role or two in the action, too!.

Arrive 60-90 minutes prior to showtime to enjoy appetizers, pre-show entertainment, and plenty of photo ops.

As for the food, you can enjoy their standard menu with the cost of your ticket or upgrade your entree for a wider variety of options from surf and turf to beef tenderloin.

Feel free to come dressed in your finest pirate attire; just leave your weapons, real and replica, at home and leave the sword fighting to the pirates.

Sleuths Mystery Dinner Shows

Love a good “whodunit” mystery? Then Sleuths Mystery Dinner Shows is a must-do on your next trip to Orlando.

A group of people dressed in red and black clothing with smiles and inquisitive looks on their faces.

This dinner theatre venue has nine different shows, all of which invite audience members to help solve a mystery. As you dine on a three-course dinner, you’ll interrogate characters and uncover clues. There are even prizes for guests who successfully solve the crime.

The shows typically rotate weekly, so you could theoretically attend every day of the week and solve a completely different mystery. Each of the shows is rated PG, though there are innuendos peppered throughout (but nothing less tame than what you might see on prime-time television).

Each performance includes a 45-minute comedy mystery that presents all the clues you’ll need to solve the crime, followed by extra time after dinner to ask the characters further questions. Then it’s time to share your conclusion before the detective unveils the actual criminal.

Successful audience Sleuths even receive a fun award for solving the mystery.

Your ticket includes a three-course meal with menu choices like Brown Sugar Bourbon Chicken and a Four Cheese Lasagna. Dinner also includes a fresh green salad, dinner rolls, a mystery dessert, and unlimited beer, wine, and soft drinks.

The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show

Is there anything better than a magic show?

Maybe a magic show with unlimited pizza, wine, and beer.

While you’re enjoying the show, you can also take advantage of unlimited hand-tossed cheese and pepperoni pizza, salad, drinks, and of course, dessert! .

Teatro Martini

Teatro Martini is a dazzling dinner show designed for audiences ages 18 and older.

Your ticket includes a delicious three-course meal. Upgrade your entrée for more premium options or take your sides to the next level with a succulent baked lobster tail.

After the show, join the afterparty at Orlando’s newest speakeasy bar, Jewel. Enjoy hand-crafted libations, dueling pianos, and exciting gameplay for a night that keeps the fun going long after curtain call.

Capone’s Dinner & Show

Take a journey back in time to an era where Speakeasys and Chicago gangsters reigned supreme.

Knock three times and give the secret password (included with your ticket) to sneak on into one of Orlando’s longest-running dinner theatre shows. For over 30 years, the cast, crew, and cuisine at Capone’s have been delighting audiences of all ages.

For the cost of a ticket, you’ll be transported to 1931 Chicago and treated to a four-course meal of Italian and American favorites like piping hot pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmesan, and much more. It also includes unlimited drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and parking; basically, everything except gratuity.

Talented handsome mobsters and gorgeous dames will have you cracking up all night long as they tell their hilarious story full of nonstop surprises. There’s plenty of audience interaction to keep you on your toes (and private tables for those who would rather watch than play.)

Note: Capone’s is temporarily closed as they move locations, but be on the lookout for their brand new spot to be announced soon.

Stay Close to the Arts

When it’s time for a great meal, you can’t go wrong with any of these entertaining Orlando dinner theatres. Put yourself in the middle of all the action when you stay at Rosen Plaza, conveniently located on International Drive.

Let us be your home away from home on your next trip. Whether you’re visiting for work or play, we’ll make sure you have a memorable, welcoming stay.

5 Tips to a Beautiful Middle Eastern Wedding

Close up shot of a bride in a white lace wedding gown and lace veil. Her hands, intricately decorated in henna, are folded over her midsection for her Middle Eastern wedding.

The cries of the zaghareet pierce the air through the deep rhythmic drumming. The energy from your guests — two beautiful families united by matrimony — elevates during this year’s greatest Middle Eastern wedding. As if on perfect cue, the best and the boldest dancers line up for a dabke — one of many to be performed or the beginning of a long, continuous run.

You take in this moment rich in tradition, filled with joy, and tremendous love.

This grand production that took months (maybe years and more money than you expected) to organize and plan is finally happening, and it is going great because you kept these five key points in mind.

1. Keep Wedding Guests in Mind

Everyone was invited and you kept an open mind and heart with an ever-growing list. You knew that inviting your auntie meant everyone important to her — friends included — would show up for your big event.

This meant designing a flexible floor plan that allowed the reception table arrangement to shift around the massive dance floor and stages for henna and the wedding.

2. Choose a Spacious Wedding Venue

Because of the fluid floor plan and the need for plenty of room to dance, you chose a spacious venue. Rosen Plaza in Orlando, Florida, is one venue that can perfectly accommodate your new family, auntie, and her family and friends.

Rosen Plaza’s largest ballroom at 26,000 square feet is perfect for hosting hundreds of family and friends and a massive dance floor and other stages.

It’s one thing for a hall or grand room to comfortably fit a lot of tables, a moderate dance floor, and maybe an extra stage or two. It’s another thing to have a spacious ballroom, like Rosen Plaza’s, that can accommodate many tables and a very large dance floor with ease while still having enough space for the drummers, the dabke line and audience, for the grand zaffeh, and comfortably fit a stage for the henna and wedding.

3. Find an Open-Minded Wedding Venue Staff

There are a few distinct differences between American weddings and Middle Eastern weddings — the most notable being how long they’re held. Middle Eastern weddings tend to start and run late, which is why you chose a wedding venue that could accommodate this relaxed time frame.

Rosen Plaza understands family and celebration come first, so often the requirements to set up and break down within a certain time frame are altered to best fit your needs.

4. Only the Best Drummers & Band Will Do

The drummers literally keep the party alive, so you hired the best with the most skill and energy to keep the soul of the party in the highest, best spirit possible. They also know the dabke and can lead your dance parties as well as give them the room to show off their dance moves. The drummers also know how to lead the zaffeh and all other important processions.

Between the drummers’ performances, your band kept the party going with the right vibe. Just to be safe, you brought in a band with excellent taste in both Arab music and American music.

In addition to setting a tone and vibe, music should honor rich cultural traditions and add a little bit of personal taste.

5. Same for the Wedding Photographer and Videographer: Only the Best

With such an elegant Middle Eastern wedding production, it is paramount to cover all angles of the big event.

The wedding photographer and videographer you chose maneuvered expertly through and around the large wedding. They used wide-angle lenses and hoisted their cameras high to capture the elegant landscape of the wedding celebration.
