Derek Baum Takes the Helm as New General Manager and Jay Finkelstein Moves up to Assistant GM Position

ORLANDO (September 1, 2016) – Rosen Plaza® is taking on new life in Orlando this month as two of Rosen Hotels & Resorts®’ most dedicated employees – Derek Baum and Jay Finkelstein – take on new roles as they continue their long-time tenure with the company.
Former general manager at Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando and 30-year Rosen Hotels’ associate, Baum celebrates his promotion as the new general manager of Rosen Plaza® Hotel. He will be supported by Finkelstein, who moves into the assistant general manager positon after over 10 years in catering and convention services at Rosen Centre® Hotel.

Derek Baum – General Manager
Baum began working with the company in 1986 at the Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando front desk as part of a college intern program. During his 30 years with Rosen Hotels & Resorts®, he has served as the assistant general manager, general manager and director of operations as well as leading many special projects. Baum has been involved in operations and capital improvements at all Rosen Properties, and is instrumental in developing and implementing training programs. He is passionate about maintaining the superior levels of service and guest satisfaction that Rosen is known for throughout the industry. Derek’s hands-on approach and commitment to wellness and education initiatives are trademark qualities which will serve him well in his new role as general manager.
Jay Finkelstein – Assistant General Manager
Serving over ten years as Rosen Centre®’s catering and convention services manager, Finkelstein is deeply rooted in the company’s history and core values. He comes from a strong background in food and beverage management – even before his time with the hotel – serving as the restaurant general manager of Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa for four and a half years and the Hyatt Regency restaurant general manager for two. With Finkelstein’s 30 years in the hospitality industry in New York and Florida, he is uniquely suited for the role of assistant general manager at Rosen Plaza®, which recently launched Zayde’s Kosher Catering. Zayde’s accommodates intimate gatherings of 10 or lavish celebrations of up to 2,000 guests, for either in-house groups or offsite functions anywhere throughout Central Florida.
Rosen Plaza® has unveiled several enhancements throughout the hotel this past year, including most recently, the completion of a floor-to-ceiling refurbishment of its 800 guestrooms and suites.
