ORLANDO (Nov. 19, 2008) — Passion is not just the stuff of soap operas — at least not at Jack’s Place, the fine dining restaurant at Rosen Plaza in Orlando. On Friday, Dec. 5 starting at 6:30 p.m., patrons who are passionate about fine wines and fine food will enjoy five courses of award-winning gourmet cuisine, expertly prepared by Executive Chef Michael McMullen, and passionately paired with four carefully selected California wines, during Rosen Plaza’s “Passionate Pairings” wine dinner.

“At Rosen Plaza, we’ve always been passionate about marrying fine food with fine wine, and we especially love to share that passion and expertise with our guests during the holiday season,” said McMullen. “We encourage locals, visitors, and anyone who’s craving a taste of luxury to reward themselves with an unforgettable and relaxing evening at Jack’s Place.”

The first tantalizing course features Roasted Heirloom Tomato and Stone Crab Bisque paired with Geyser Peak Winery Chardonnay. The Sonoma County, Calif. wine features focused aromas of pear, fig, and tropical fruit that show the wine’s fruit intensity, while undertones of butterscotch and vanilla provide complexity.

The second course follows with a Golden Harvest Salad and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, also from Geyser Peak Winery. In this light and refreshing wine, explosive aromas brimming with lemon, lime and citrus blossom mingle with gooseberry and passion fruit.

For the intermezzo, or third course, diners will cleanse their palates with Pumpkin Ice, followed by a fourth course of delicate Tenderloin of Buffalo over Maine Lobster Risotto. This inventive and mouth-watering entrée is paired with a bold Kunde Estate Syrah, another award-winning Sonoma Valley winery. This complex Syrah blends the aromas of bold raspberry and boysenberry fruit, while flavors of black raspberries carry forward with hints of black tea, rich chocolate, and a touch of toast in the finish.

Finally, patrons will linger over a 10-year-old Vines Zinfandel by XYZ, another fine Sonoma County winery. The Zinfandel features the aromas of sweet spicy oak, malt, mocha, and vanilla which lead to flavors of juicy briar berries, chocolate, sweet strawberry and plum, along with a vein of ripe raspberry that perfectly complements the dessert course, a Spiced Apple Galette.

The “Passionate Pairings” wine dinner takes place Friday, Dec. 5 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Jack’s Place at the Rosen Plaza hotel on International Drive in Orlando. Cost of the wine dinner is $65 per person (not including tax and gratuity) and reservations are strongly suggested. To make reservations for the “Passionate Pairings” wine dinner, call 407-996-1787. Rooms at Rosen Plaza may be booked for that evening at a special nightly rate of just $89. Price excludes taxes and gratuities; rate is based on availability and is not applicable for groups or with other promotional offers. To make a room reservation, call 800-627-8258 or visit www.rosenplaza.com.

Jack’s Place is named after the father of hotel owner Harris Rosen. During his 30-year tenure at the Waldorf Astoria, Jack Rosen sketched more than 100,000 warm and humorous caricatures of visiting celebrities and VIPs, including Jackie Kennedy, Hank Aaron, Indira Gandhi and Henry Kissinger, to name a few. The restaurant recently remodeled its dining room to include new chandeliers, new carpeting, new chairs and booths and new archways. While the look may have changed, the restaurant continues to be adorned with a selection from the impressive collection of caricatures.
